Extended Review of the Omakase Experience at Sushi-Ya (すし家) in Tokyo!

Sushi-ya is a small 8 seat sushi restaurant hidden away in a small alley way in Ginza, Tokyo. It is currently rated one Michelin Star and is highly regarded among sushi afficionados. The counter is manned by chef Takao Ishiyama who is known for his tasty sushi as well as his graceful motion while shaping the nigiri. Dinner consists of ~10 courses of otsumami appetizers followed by ~15 pieces of nigiri. Dinner course costs starts at ¥23,000. This is an extended version of the highlights video previously posted in November

Hello, this looks like an amazing sushi experience in Japan. The Cod fish milt is so good, not for everyone though hahahaha. But I think the Tomago really looked the best. Feeling hunger pains now after watching this! Newly subbed. If you like food and travel consider check out our channel too. It would be great to support each other.

Wow, looks amazing! I’m pretty sure the blue coloured roe is from the shrimp. I’ve been served amaebi with this blue roe before. (^__^)

I’ve been to Suki-Ya. Does that count?

Jason's Aquascape says:

Why do you rate it so low

peterk814 says:

I’ve eaten here before I would give it a three out of five as well. Some dishes were stand out but compared to a traditional edo style sushi which I enjoy it’s not as good

Interesting review. I tried their lunch omakase two years ago before it got its first Michelin Star. I think the price for lunch is a good deal. However, for dinner, I do expect more interesting selection of fishes. I do recommend Umi in Tokyo if you haven’t tried it. The rice part of one of the nigiri pieces I had broke apart, so I guess the chief didn’t press it firmly enough. I like the service and price. I agree with your verdict.
